lake-onic

The old roof was leaky, and a new penthouse would have been profitable in the center of Zurich. However, the building was located on the Silvercoast.

I designed a roof structure that captures the evening sunshine for the inhabitants to enjoy together with the stunning lakeview.

I received the commission for this project while I was writing a guide about Swiss architecture built during the 1960s, and the existent building dated from that decade.

However, I didn’t follow a dogmatic approach to history. My source of inspiration was The cheerfulness of the golden 1960s – the belief in a bright future shared by everyone involved.
